The IELTS Preparation Program at the Center for Language and Cultural Studies (CLCS) is an intensive, skills-focused certificate course designed to help students and professionals achieve their target band scores in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). Administered under the expertise of the university’s language center, the program integrates comprehensive foundational training with advanced exam strategies to address all components of both the Academic and General Training modules.

Curriculum Structure

1. Listening Module

• Strategies for navigating diverse English accents, including British, American, and Australian variations.

• Techniques for specific question types, such as multiple-choice, map/diagram labeling, sentence completion, and short-answer formats.

• Active tracking methods to prevent loss of focus during continuous audio tracks.

2. Reading Module

• Development of scanning, skimming, and detailed reading capabilities across various text complexities.

• Critical approaches to complex tasks, including "True/False/Not Given," matching headings, and summarization.

• Vocabulary enrichment strategies focused on contextual deduction and recognizing synonymous phrasing.

3. Writing Module

• Task 1 Training: Data analysis and structural frameworks for describing charts, graphs, tables, and processes (Academic), or formal/informal letter structuring (General).

• Task 2 Training: Structured essay generation including opinion, discussion, and problem-solution essays.

• Focus on cohesion, coherence, lexically diverse wording, and grammatical range to maximize band criteria.

4. Speaking Module

• Face-to-face evaluation preparation spanning Part 1 (Introduction), Part 2 (Cue Card long-turn), and Part 3 (Two-way discussion).

• Interactive drills targeting fluency, pronunciation clarity, logical coherence, and lexical flexibility.

• Regular mock interviews conducted under simulated exam conditions to reinforce candidate confidence.
